Home Farm Cooking

“Architecture is basically a container of something. I hope they will enjoy not so much the teacup, but the tea.” - Yoshio Taniguchi

Written by Catherine & John Pawson, interior designer and architect respectively, Home Farm Cooking, published by Phaidon, makes architecture and cooking natural bedfellows in a refreshingly exquisite title.

Simple and “unpretentious”, project is interwoven by the seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and the accompanying bounty from the local harvest, all in conversation with the space of the farm house.

The guiding thought of the cookbook could be summarized in Mies van Der Rohe’s comment, “we should attempt to bring nature, houses and human beings together into a higher unity”.

The philosophical approach, coupled with the exceptional layout and time honored recipes, make for a nourishing read and addition to any kitchen.
